The Ostwestfälische Volkstanzkreis Geseke-Salzkotten e.V. has now been in existence for more than 70 years.
Foundation
The association was founded in 1948 by Gregor Tomaschewski to make the difficult post-war period easier by dancing and making music together with friends. Locals and expellees from the Büren, Paderborn and Lippstadt areas came together at numerous meetings, including at Wewelsburg Castle, to learn folk dances and songs. The dances and songs learnt could be taken back to their home towns and spread there.
First visits abroad
A cultural and dance exchange through visits abroad to various dance groups has been taking place since 1950. First International Festival Week
The First International Youth Festival Week in Wewelsburg was organised in 1954 under the direction of Gregor Tomaschewski.
30th anniversary of the festival week
In 2013, the 30th anniversary of the festival week took place with many companions and friends. We had the honour of welcoming our friends from Estonia.
